NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group
Tuesdays, 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM The supports groups are held at R Place Peer Wellness Center located at 10 E. Benton St. Iowa City, IA. NAMI Connection is a national recovery support group for adults with mental illnesses regardless of their diagnosis. Groups meet for 90 minutes each week. Sessions are free, and they are led by trained individuals who are themselves in recovery. NAMI’s Family Support Groups Thursdays, 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM, at the 1105 Building This group meets every week. Onset of mental illness frequently occurs in a person’s 20s, after the age of adulthood has been reached, but nonetheless having a major impact on family members. The group focuses on stages of emotional response, principles of support and problem-solving. Attendance is free of charge.
